Lydia Ko turned pro last week in one of the cooler ways we've seen an amateur turn pro. Questions lingered, though. It wasn't a guarantee that she would receive the waiver she needed from the LPGA to play on its tour in 2014.

The reason for the necessity of the waiver is that the LPGA has an 18-year-old age limite and Ko is just 16 as of right now (Lexi Thompson got the waiver two years ago).

On Monday those questions were answered by LPGA commissioner Mike Whan when he said that he was, in fact, granting Ko the waiver.

"We are looking forward to having Lydia as a full-time member for the 2014 season,” Whan said. "It is not often that the LPGA welcomes a rookie who is already a back-to-back LPGA tour champion."

The back-to-back wins Whan is talking about are the 2012 and 2013 Canadian Opens, both of which Ko won.

Ko said she was very pleased with the LPGA's decision and is ready to get rolling on tour.

"It has always been my dream goal to play on the LPGA, and play against the world's best players,” Ko said in a statement. "I know that becoming a member is not only performing well, but to deal with responsibilities very well. Women's golf is growing day by day, and I would love to be able to inspire other girls to take up the game, and go for it. I believe this is only the start to my career, and I have many new things to learn along the way. I am so grateful to get the opportunity to play with the players I look up to and respect. I can't wait to start the season early next year."

Hello world, indeed.
