Matt Kuchar has clubhouse lead at Masters
Matt Kuchar moved near the top of the leaderboard on Saturday at the 2013 Masters with a third-round 69.
It looked early on, after Tim Clark posted a 5-under-par 67 and Nick Watney and Thorbjorn Olesen shot 68s, that Saturday would be full of low scores and exciting golf.
It's been pretty much the opposite so far. Consider this explanation from Sandy Lyle, who shot 81:
Sandy Lyle: Greens are getting crispy and crazy fast. That's what's holding down the scoring. "It's Disneyland." #masters— Dave Shedloski (@DaveShedloski) April 13, 2013
Matt Kuchar played the course beautifully despite difficult conditions. It also probably helped that he went out just before noon ET rather than in the afternoon.
Kuchar shot a 3-under 69 that included a front-nine 33 with three birdies. Here's a look at his scorecard:
We've been here before with Kuchar. He sat alone in fifth place at the 2012 Masters and shot a 68 on Sunday to finish just two shots out of a playoff with Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen.
He'll be unfazed by the moment if he can get to the back nine on Sunday still in contention.
Considering how few low scores are being posted right now, I think he's going to have plenty of opportunities.
