PGA Tour releases 2013-2014 schedule
The 2013-2014 PGA Tour schedule has been released and there's one big change (two-year schedule) and one minor one during the British Open.
The PGA Tour has released its full 2013-2014 schedule -- it's the first time in PGA Tour history that a wraparound schedule has been used. That is, tournaments starting in October 2013 will dole out FedEx Cup points that count for the 2014 Tour Championship.
Not much will change from this season although it's interesting to note that the PGA Tour will no longer have a tournament alongside the British Open (it previously had the Sanderson Farms Championship).
Here are your key dates:
Masters -- April 10-13
Players Championship -- May 8-11
US Open (Pinehurst) -- June 12-15
British Open (Hoylake) -- July 17-20
PGA Championship (Valhalla) -- August 7-10
Tour Championship -- September 11-14
I really like the new fall schedule (which starts October 10) because I think it adds some meat to the October-November months in terms of golf.
However, I continue to dislike that the last two weeks of the playoffs are going up against the NFL. That seems extremely foolish and something that wouldn't be that difficult to change.
