Phil Mickelson is 1-1 at the Presidents Cup so far this week and is using a surprise club in his bag.

On Thursday Mickelson only carried 13 clubs (a very Mickelson move) but on Friday he added, in unusual fashion, a non-Callaway driver to his bag.

Here's with the story:

"According to GolfWRX, Mickelson opted to go with a TaylorMade SLDR driver that had a Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Silver shaft. The driver featured black paint on the crown to mask the glossy grey paint, and a black sole that made the driver almost unrecognizable to the model that's currently on retail shelves."

Pretty interesting given Mickelson's affinity for Callaway and how he was basically a walking infomercial for them and their driver and fairway woods earlier this season.

But Mickelson is a tinkerer ar heart and he used a TaylorMade RocketBallz 3-wood last November so this isn't totally out of the blue.

At some point I fully expect Mickelson to really do something crazy, like play four Nike clubs for a round with three of them being putters.

Actually, that sounds like it's right up his alley.
