Former President Barack Obama has selected a post-presidency home course, and the winner is the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia.

Here is CNN on the news.

He's apparently joined the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, about a 45-minute drive from Washington, according to two current members.

However, while the new POTUS grabs golfing headlines, the former commander in chief is himself still playing plenty. Obama's selection of a private course comes after months of speculation as to where he would take his game, now that he can no longer play his favored local course at Andrews Air Force Base.

Golf and the presidency is always a fun, divisive topic that is not relegated to the modern day. The marriage between the sport and the office goes back nearly a century as golf rose in prominence within the United States as a national passion.

Former President Bill Clinton actually (humorously, now) joined Trump National in New York after his presidency. It's not clear whether George W. Bush joined a club, but he does play a lot at Brook Hollow Golf Club and Las Colinas Country Club.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club was recently ranked No. 2 among courses in Virginia by Golf Digest.
