Add finding a sponsor for the former Quicken Loans National to the PGA Tour's to-do list this offseason. The Washington, D.C.-based tournament, which is often played at Congressional Country Club, will not be played there in 2018 or 2020, according to a report. It was slated to be played at Congressional in both of those years with a stop at a yet-to-be-determined location in 2019.

The event is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, which also hosts the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles, and it apparently cannot find a title sponsor, thus the cutting of ties with Congressional.

Rex Hoggard reported for Golf Channel that Congressional was told of the ending of the relationship via letter.

The Tiger Woods Foundation currently has no title sponsor for their PGA Tour golf tournament. Because of that circumstance, the PGA Tour has exercised its right to terminate our facilities agreement with them for 2018 and 2020, while they seek a title sponsor for The National," the letter from club president Richard Sullivan Jr. read.

So that's pretty interesting. It will be curious to see what comes of this, too. Woods isn't exactly at his apex in terms of marketability, but he's still Tiger Woods. And you only need one company to sponsor the event. Of course, his ability to play golf probably also affects whether companies want to pony up the cash necessary for putting their name on an event.

Either way, finding a sponsor (and location) will be a top priority for both the foundation and the PGA Tour this offseason. This series of events conveys to me that this tournament could be a decent candidate to be moved to the wraparound season starting in 2019. We're a long way from that actually happening, though, and there is much to be ironed out as PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan tries to get the meat of the 2017-18 schedule in place.
