Shot of the year candidate: Rory McIlroy's 5-wood at Honda Classic

Here at Eye on Golf we like to put forth some of the best golf shots we see every week. Shots that have a chance to make the year-end top 10 list. Here's one of those shots.

Rory McIlroy was falling apart.

He had just made bogey and double bogey in his last two holes before stepping to the par-5 18th likely needin an eagle for the win. McIlroy took a mighty swing with his driver which sailed right down the middle of the fairway and left him with 245 yards to the pin.

Then he pulled his 5-wood (of course!) and smoked what is likely the best shot on the PGA Tour this season. A screamer over water and sand that landed as softly as if McIlroy himself was dropping it on the green.

It was one of the greatest shots I've ever seen live.

The ensuing scream and fist pump from McIlroy were just spectacular. The unfortunate part for McIroy is that he missed the eagle putt and lost in the ensuing playoff but still, neither of those things takes away from the splendor of that shot.
