Steve Stricker injures leg skiing
Steve Stricker went skiing with his wife during the British Open and it went badly.
There's a decent chance Steve Stricker has spent more time on vacation this year than he has on a golf course. Stricker skipped the British Open in July to go skiing with his wife for their anniversary. It didn't go well.
According to Golf Channel, Stricker tore his right hamstring. He said he was just glad it wasn't something else.
"Just a little bit of a freak accident, my right leg kind of went out on me. I got pulled forward and I felt the pop, and I knew I had done something. I’m fortunate really that it’s not a knee issue."
Stricker is playing just his ninth event of the year at the Bridgestone Invitational this weekend and plans to play the PGA Championship next week as well.
"I’m surprised that I’m here; I’m surprised how well it’s recovering. It’s doing better every day."
Stricker went on to note that he's going to try and remain within the top 10 of the Presidents Cup standings (he's currently ninth) and play as many events as he needs to before the end of the season to make that happen.
