Tiger Woods continues to be the favorite at British Open
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Rose are your 2013 British Open favorites at Muirfield.
Tiger Woods hasn't won a major in more than five years, but that matters little to golf oddsmakers. He remains the heavy favorite for the British Open just 10 days away from competition.
Woods was favored even more at the US Open (9-2 to Rory McIlroy's 20-1) and less so at Augusta (3-1 to Rory McIlroy's 12-1).
The interesting part about the British Open is that this is the first time all year McIlroy hasn't been the clear cut No. 2 favorite heading into a major. It's a reflection of his play, obviously, but it's also a reflection of the fact that nobody was betting on him. (He opened at 12-1.)
Here are your top 19 favorites:
Tiger Woods: 13-2
Adam Scott: 18-1
Justin Rose: 18-1
Rory McIlroy: 18-1
Lee Westwood: 20-1
Luke Donald: 20-1
Graeme McDowell: 22-1
Ernie Els: 25-1
Jason Day: 25-1
Phil Mickelson: 25-1
Sergio Garcia: 25-1
Brandt Snedeker: 33-1
Charl Schwartzel: 33-1
Dustin Johnson: 33-1
Louis Oosthuizen: 33-1
Padraig Harrington: 33-1
Ian Poulter: 40-1
Matt Kuchar: 40-1
Rickie Fowler: 40-1
Man, I love that group at 33-1. Between them, they have three British Open trophies in the last six years and three guys poised for their first breakthrough across the pond (Johnson, Snedeker and Schwartzel).
Heck, Johnson should have won the 2011 title (T2) and Snedeker could have won last year (T3). If my money is going somewhere, it's going to one of those three guys -- or Jason Day at 25-1.
