Tiger Woods shoots 74 in first round of PGA Championship
Tiger Woods didn't get it done on Thursday at the PGA Championship and that's becoming a bit of a trend lately.
Tiger Woods played about how you would expect a man coming off a back in jury who got nine holes of practice in for the week to play: Poorly.
Woods shot a 3-over 74 on Thursday that included just one biridie and a whole bunch of par and bogey saves from long distance with his putter.
Here's a look at Tiger's card:
And here's that birdie:
He was all over the yard with his drives, though, and your putter can only carry you so far when you're traipsing through the woods, over parking lots, and next to shuttle cars.
Here's an example:

"A lot of bad shots and I never got a putt to the hole," Woods said. "I hit them all my lines. Just for some reason I thought they were going to be a little bit quicker, and I didn't make the adjustment well enough."
It seems like no matter how many tournaments we are removed from Woods' last major win it never becomes less jarring to watch him play this poorly.
Of course, it's not like anyone expected him to shoot a 64 but the course was definitely scoreable [the leaders are 6 under] and Woods didn't score. At all.
He said he's having trouble taking his practice onto the course.
"I had ... my swing was dialed in on that range out there," Woods said. "Unfortunately, I didn't carry it to the golf course."
At the time his round was over Woods was T99 -- that's largely the issue, too. Woods is letting so many golfers between him and the leaders on Thursday and Friday that it's impossible to come back on Saturday and Sunday.
Phil Mickelson, who played with Woods, gave an almost sad quote about their round together.
"He played with a lot of heart," Mickelson said.
Their other playing partner (Padraig Harrington) said somethign equally rough.

Woods also noted that he wasn't going to the range like he normally would but was going to get some work done on his back to keep it loose.
