Tiger Woods six back in Turkey as first round suspended
Tiger Woods had some trouble getting started on Thursday in Turkey, both literally and figuratively.
Tiger Woods got off to a slow start Thursday in Turkey but not because of his on-course play. The Turkish Airlines Open was delayed by three hours after thunderstorms and flooding threatened to wipe out the entire day.
Once he did get started, Woods was pretty average. He made two birdies, one bogey, and a bunch of pars to put him at 1 under halfway through his first round (10 holes).
That's six strokes back of the leaders (including Paul Casey), none of whom had finished their first rounds either. There are 46 golfers between Woods and the leaders.
Here's a look at Woods' incomplete scorecard:
Tiger said Wednesday he was struggling to find his game again after after his one-on-one match with Rory McIlroy in China.
"Well, I have to say that when I played against Rory, I was a little bit on the rusty side, because I really had not touched a club for a couple of weeks. After The Presidents Cup, I shut it down."
So the 1-under score isn't altogether unexpected, and hey, he could still put it together for the last eight holes on Friday.
Woods, playing with Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, attracted the kind of following you would expect from someone who rarely plays in Europe. A big one.

Because of the small field (only 78 golfers) no changes will be made to the second-round tee times. Golfers will start completion of the first round at 8 a.m. local time (1 a.m. ET!) on Friday.
