Davis Love IV finished one stroke out of a playoff at his sectional qualifier for the 2017 U.S. Open a few weeks ago. In doing so, he became an alternate for the second major of 2017 at Erin Hills this week. On Sunday evening, he found his way into the tournament.

Oh, and he's got his father and Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III on the bag. Love IV is also turning pro this week. So you can say it's been a fun few days for the former Alabama golfer.

"I got my badge that says, '2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills' that said 'Davis Love IV' on it,'' he told Golf World. "I got my packet and all my family's tickets. It's nice to be the one handing out of the tickets rather than it is wondering if you're going to get one."

His dad, who is a 21-time PGA Tour winner, also tried to qualify but failed. Still, he sounds fired up to be on the big for his son.

"I'm excited for him," Love told the AP on Sunday. "I've played with a bunch of 19- and 20-year-olds. But it makes me feel old that he's playing."
