Video: Fan yells at Europeans, 'Hit a better tee shot next time!'
In one of the early morning matches, one fan let Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy what he thought of their tee shot on the second hole.
On the second hole on Friday morning at Medinah, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell found themselves in an awkward position over the green.
McIlroy had hit his tee shot just off the back of the green on the par-3, and McDowell was asking for a ruling to move his ball away from a sprinkler head that was roughly six inches behind his ball. Jim Furyk spoke up, saying he didn't think the ruling was fair, and the group battled back and forth over if the Europeans should be allowed to move their ball to the fringe (giving them a much better chance at par or even birdie if McDowell rolled that putt in).
As the group was debating, a rambunctious fan yelled the line of the week so far from the grandstands; "Hit a better tee shot next time."
McDowell wasn't given relief, his chip shot rolled past the cup and McIlroy couldn't convert it for par, giving the Americans an early one-up lead.
