Video: Zach Johnson hits one of the shots of the year to win the John Deere Classic
Zach Johnson and Troy Matteson were in a rather interesting playoff on Sunday at the John Deere Classic before Johnson pulled off this incredible shot to set up a winning birdie.
There seems to be a new recipe for how to win the John Deere Classic; hit your drive in the left bunker and then pull off the golf shot of your year.
It happened last year, when Steve Stricker found himself in that same bunker on the final hole in regulation, pulled off an insane golf shot and then sank the winning putt to win his third straight John Deere Classic. This year, things were a little different, with Zach Johnson and Troy Matteson struggling early in a playoff only to have Johnson pull off one of the shots of the year on the PGA Tour.
You can watch above, but basically Johnson hit his second shot on the second playoff hole out of the left bunker on the 18th hole to within inches of the cup, setting up a tap-in birdie that would claim his second PGA Tour win of the year.
