If there's anything more exciting on a Friday morning than somebody going driver off the deck at a professional golf tournament, I have yet to see it. Jamie Donaldson did just that on Friday at the Italian Open from 291 yards away on a par 5, and he nearly holed it for an albatross.
Here's a look at the shot.
The tap-in eagle he made was part of a 34 on the front nine, which was followed by a 33 on the back nine to get him to 11 under overall. He's two back of leaders Marcus Fraser and Matt Wallace.
"Yeah, couldn't quite get there with a 3-wood," Donaldson said of the shot. "I had about 285 front, so hit a driver off the deck and came out so perfect. It was nice to get it down there, only two feet from the hole. Yeah, one of my great shots."
