WATCH: Justin Thomas makes 'putt' on green with wedge for par at CJ Cup
The No. 4 player in the world dumps his putter in favor of a wedge because of a mark on the green
Justin Thomas had a tough day on Friday at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges after leading the way with a 9-under 63 on Thursday. Thomas shot a 74 to fall back into a tie for fourth, but he did make maybe the shot of the day when he chipped in for par on the par-4 5th hole.
Why was it the shot of the day? Well, he was chipping on the green, eschewing his putter because of a damaged portion of the green that would have been difficult to roll a ball through. Thomas made the chip-in look easy, though, and it helped his score from ballooning even more and helped keep him from tumbling down the leaderboard.
Luke List took over Thomas' lead at 9 under while Thomas is just two strokes back.
