Phillies pitcher A.J. Burnett took the loss Wednesday, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits and four walks in six innings while striking out three in his team's 8-4 defeat against the Nationals.
Burnett (3-5) gave up four runs in the fourth inning, and it didn't get better from there, with the Nationals scoring another four runs in the next two innings before Burnett was removed. He hasn't turned in a quality start since May 3 and now owns a 4.41 ERA and 67:41 K:BB ratio in 79 2/3 innings. Burnett is scheduled to face the Padres Tuesday.
