Angels place 2B Howie Kendrick on DL with knee injury
Days after suffering a hyperextended left knee while playing the field, Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick has been placed on the DL.
The diagnosis was a hyperextended left knee, and now, after taking the wait-and-see approach, the Angels have placed Kendrick on the disabled list retroactive to Aug. 6, the team announced on Saturday.
The 30-year-old Kendrick had been enjoying a fine season: a slash line of .302/.342/.439 with 11 home runs.
To replace Kendrick on the active roster, the Angels have called up 25-year-old lefty reliever Buddy Boshers.
