Astros sign relief pitcher Chad Qualls to two-year deal
Chad Qualls is returning to Houston on a two-year contract.
The deal is for $6 million plus incentives, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The club option is for $3.5 million, per Rosenthal.
Qualls, 35, had a 2.61 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 62 innings last season for the Marlins. In his career, he sports a 3.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. He has closing experience -- with the Diamondbacks back in 2009-10 -- but has mostly been used in the seventh or eighth inning in his career.
The signing marks a reunion, as Qualls was drafted and developed by the Astros, spending the first four years of his big-league career with Houston.
