Braves rookie slugger Evan Gattis has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, the team announced on Sunday.

Gattis, who has been sidelined since June 18 because of a right oblique strain, was an important part of the Braves' hot start to the season. Gattis, age 26, is batting .252/.317/.577 this season with 14 homers in 53 games.

Gattis is primarily a catcher, but his ability to get by in left might lead to more playing time at that position, what with the current struggles of the somewhat banged-up Atlanta outfield.
