It's been a pretty miserable week for the first-place Braves. First, Jason Heyward suffers a broken jaw, and now right-hander Brandon Beachy is headed for a visit with Dr. James Andrews.

Beachy is in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in June of last year. He's made just five major-league starts in 2013. Beachy underwent an MRI on Wednesday but the results are either not yet known or yet to be released. Now, notes Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Beachy is to be examined on Monday by Dr. Andrews, who performed his surgery.

Beachy had been scheduled to face the Cardinals on Sunday, but now the Braves will give the start to Mike Minor instead.

Beachy, 26, owns a career ERA of 3.23 (121 ERA+) and a K/BB ratio of 3.20 across 46 starts.
