Braves' Manny Banuelos gets roughed up by Cardinals on Friday
Braves rookie starter Manny Banuelos was not at his best in his outing against the Cardinals on Friday. Banuelos allowed four runs on six hits over five innings. The right-hander struck out three and walked three, needing 92 pitches to get through the fifth.
Banuelos (1-2) got off to a rocky start when he gave up a two-run home run to Randal Grichuk to put the Cardinals up 2-0 in the second inning. He allowed additional runs in the third and fourth innings, and was never able to get into a groove in this one.
The rough outing boosted his ERA up from 1.08 to 2.49. This was the first time this season that he has given up more than one run in an appearance.
