The Braves on Sunday announced the one-game suspension of second baseman Dan Uggla, who'll sit out the finale against the Cubs (GameTracker). Here's what David O'Brien's sources tell him about the cause for said suspension:

Yep, that'll do it. If true, of course.

Suffice it to say, Uggla isn't enjoying a very successful 2014. On the heels of a dismal 2013 season, Uggla this year has reached new depths at the plate: .162/.241/.231 in 145 plate appearances, which comes to an OPS+ of 32. In a related matter, he lost his starting to Tommy La Stella some weeks ago.

Uggla, lest the Braves forget, is in the fourth year of a five-year, $62-million contract.
