The Braves starting rotation is nearing some reinforcements. With both Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy out for the season following Tommy John surgery, the rotation is a bit of a patchwork job right now, but Ervin Santana will soon be back while Mike Minor and Gavin Floyd don't appear to be far away, either.

Santana is scheduled to throw either five or six innings for Triple-A Gwinnett Friday ( and that might be the last outing he needs before being up to speed enough to join the big-league Braves. Minor and Floyd are both scheduled to throw three innings Friday in minor-league action, per -- so while they aren't far off, they aren't quite as close to returning as Santana is. Minor dealt with shoulder tendinitis this spring while Floyd is coming back from Tommy John surgery.
