Brewers activate Ryan Braun, place Aramis Ramirez on DL
The Brewers have gotten one regular back, but lost another Monday night. Ryan Braun is back from his thumb injury while a knee injury takes out Aramis Ramirez.
The Brewers get a middle-of-the-order bat back Monday, but in a corresponding move lose another.
Left fielder Ryan Braun has made it through batting practice with no issues with his previously injured thumb, so he's been activated from the disabled list. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez, however, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left knee, the club announced Monday.
Note on the Ramirez move: It's 15-day disabled list, not 15 games, so with the All-Star break coming up next week, Ramirez won't be lost for as many games as he normally would -- assuming he's able to come off after the 15-day minimum.
Braun isn't in the lineup Monday, but could be used in pinch hitting action and then start Tuesday, reports Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Braun, 29, is hitting .304/.380/.509 with 13 doubles, two triples, nine homers and 36 RBI on the season. He's been out since June 9 and the injury was said to be hampering his power prior to hitting the DL.
Ramirez, 35, is hitting .271/.359/.414 with 11 doubles, five homers and 26 RBI in 54 games this season.
