On Saturday, the Brewers placed slugging outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. The move was made retroactive to April 27. To take Braun's place on the active roster, the team has reinstated outfielder Logan Schafer from the DL.
Braun, age 30, is off to a strong start in 2014: .318/.361/.591 with six homers in 22 games. Last season, the five-time All-Star of course served a lengthy suspension pursuant to his role in the Biogenesis scandal.
For his career, Braun owns an OPS+ of 147 across parts of eight major-league seasons. Over that span, he's averaged 36 home runs and 40 doubles per 162 games played.
