Carlos Beltran leaves game with bruised right foot, X-rays negative
After fouling a ball off his right foot, Carlos Beltran was forced from Sunday's game, but the injury doesn't sound serious.
After fouling a pitch off his foot and eventually striking out in the fifth inning, Cardinals All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Cubs. The Cardinals told reporters (David Wilhelm) that Beltran's injury is a bruised right foot, X-rays came back negative and he's listed as day to day.
Beltran, 36, is hitting .305/.340/.519 with 20 doubles, 20 homers and 62 RBI on the season. Beltran was replaced by Matt Adams -- who went to first base while Allen Craig shifted out to right field -- in the lineup and if he misses any games, expect that same alignment to be how the Cardinals play it.
The Cardinals entered Sunday having lost four straight games and trailed the Pirates by four in the NL Central.
