Chris Young to return to D-backs Friday night
Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young will rejoin the team in time for Friday night's game against the Royals.
The Diamondbacks are getting their center fielder back.
The Arizona Republic reports that Chris Young, who's been sidelined since April 17 with an injured shoulder (the result of his colliding with the outfield wall), will rejoin the team in advance of Friday night's interleague series with the Royals. To make room for Young on the roster, the Snakes have optioned outfielder A.J. Pollock back to Triple-A Reno.
Besides providing plus defense at a key, up-the-middle position, Young is also hitting .410/.500/.897 on the season. It goes without saying that those numbers aren't sustainable, but Young is a fairly consistent source of power. In fact, the ZiPS forecasting system tabs Young for a .460 SLG and 17 homers over the remainder of the season.
