Cup-check photo of the day: Padres catcher Austin Hedges
Austin Hedges took a shot that could have been rather crippling if not for his cup. Here's the photo evidence.
So this could have been life-altering, had Padres prospect Austin Hedges not been wearing a cup:

Remember, kids, catchers need extra protection. This isn't a laughing matter.
Hedges, 21, hit .260/.333/.390 with 25 doubles, four homers and 38 RBI in 86 games across High-A and Double-A last season. He enters this year ranked as the 58th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America.
And he definitely wears his proper gear behind the plate at all times.
