Coming into the season, we all expected Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton to be the guy getting all the stolen base headlines. Instead, another former top speed prospect beat him to the 30-stolen base plateau.

Dodgers shortstop turned second baseman Dee Gordon stole his 30th base of the season in the seventh inning of Sunday's win over the Phillies, making him the quickest to 30 steals since current teammate Carl Crawford stole his 30th base in his team's 48th game back in 2009. Crawford was with the Rays at the time.

Gordon, 26, is the second-fastest Dodgers player to 30 steals, according to Eric Stephen of True Blue LA. Maury Wills stole his 30th base in the team's 46th game back in 1965. I can't find the all-time record for the fastest to 30 steals in one year, but the safe assumption would be Rickey Henderson or Vince Coleman.

In 47 games this year, Gordon is hitting .293/.340/.382 (104 OPS+) with those MLB-leading 30 steals. He has only been caught three times. Hamilton has the second-most steals in  MLB with 18, so Gordon is way ahead of the pack.
