Yankees captain Derek Jeter now stands alone in sixth place in baseball history with 3,431 hits.
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter picked up a hit Saturday that wasn't overly impressive, but it was a significant hit nonetheless, because it was number 3,431. He has passed the great Honus Wagner and moved into sixth place on the all-time hits list.
So, yeah, it wasn't exactly the home run that his 3,000th hit was, but it counts.
