Giants sign top pick Arroyo for $1.866 million
Christian Arroyo, a shortstop, was the 25th pick overall.
The Giants have agreed to a $1,866,500 million deal with their No. 1 pick, Christian Arroyo, a high school shortstop from Tampa, sources say. Arroyo was the 25th pick overall, so he signed for slot value.
The Giants envision Arroyo has an excellent two-way player, though it's uncertain how much power he'll show at AtT&T Park. Arroyo finished near the top of his class at Hernando Hish School, as well.
Hank Schulman first said Arroyo was nearing a deal.
