Houston GM on David Price's dog Astro: 'Maybe that is a sign ...'

Astros GM Jeff Luhnow is at the helm of a contending team, and that means they may be looking to make improvements as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches. One very notable possible improvement is Tigers ace David Price, who's once again thriving, this time in his walk year. The Tigers have disappointed thus far in 2015, and presently they find themselves with a .500 record and four games out of the second wild-card spot in the AL. That's led to some speculation that the Tigers will sell at the deadline.

Regarding all of that, here, via CBS Houston, is what Luhnow on Tuesday told SportsRadio 610 regarding Price's objectively adorable dog Astro and, by implication, Price himself:

"I follow all the Vanderbilt chatter and I did know his [Price's] dog’s name is Astro. Maybe that is a sign of things to come."

Tantalizing subtlety!

This season, the Houston rotation has been quite solid -- sixth in the AL in starters' ERA and fourth in starters' fWAR. However, there's still room for upgrades, and with a number of young arms in the mix work-load is going to become more of a concern as the season deepens. Suffice it to say, Price would fit the bill when it comes to excellence, stamina and durability.
