Jose Valvderde won't be disciplined for alleged spitball
Tigers closer Jose Valverde won't face discipline for an alleged spitball he threw in Sunday night's game in Cincinnati.
Tigers closer Jose Valverde will not face any discipline from Major League Baseball after his alleged spitball incident on Sunday night, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
"We have spoken to the club, and there will be no discipline," Pat Courtney, an MLB spokeman, wrote in an email to Iott.
The internet was abuzz with allegations that Valverde had used a spitball in Sunday's victory over the Reds, complete with video. Valverde denied the charges, and said he was simply wiping off sweat.
