Sliding is one of the more under appreciated arts in the game of baseball. You have players sliding head first into third base to leg out a triple or players doing whatever they need to in order to touch home plate before the catcher can apply the tag.
During the Dodgers' 5-0 win over the Phillies, Los Angeles catcher Will Smith singled to right field and Turner made his way home on the play. He then proceeded to score on one of the smoothest slides that any baseball fan will ever see.
"I've been doing that a long time," Turner said after the game, regarding the slide. "That's just how I slide, I guess. I try to not hit the ground very hard because it usually doesn't feel great, so I try to be as soft as I can and slide, whether it's head-first or feet-first. I try to avoid tags, but that's just how I've slid basically my whole life."
Turner is one of the fastest guys in all of baseball and watching him circle the bases can be a treat to watch. But forget circling the bases: this slide may go down as one of the most fun clips in Turner's career.
