Regarding the 2017 World Baseball Classic in general and the Team USA roster in particular, Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman has something to say ...
Very difficult decision. Sorry momma. Crazy excited to be playing for #TeamUSA in the #WBC. Back to them @USABaseball days! @WBCBaseballpic.twitter.com/zv4zBv2El2

Stroman also had the option of playing for Puerto Rico because, as the tweet above implies, his mother is of Puerto Rican descent. For 2017, though, Stroman says he'll be taking the mound for the U.S. squad.
Stroman, 25, is coming off a 2016 season for Toronto in which he pitched to a 98 ERA+ and 3.07 K/BB ratio. For his career, he owns an ERA+ of 105 and a K/BB ratio of 3.35 across parts of three big-league seasons.
Max Scherzer and Chris Archer had previously committed to pitching for the U.S., so they're putting together an impressive pitching staff.
