Marlins place Jarrod Saltalamacchia on 7-day concussion DL
A head injury has landed Miami catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the special disabled list set aside for post-concussion symptoms.
Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia sustained a concussion at some point during Saturday's loss to the Braves, and now the team has placed him on the 7-day disabled list set aside for players suffering from post-concussion symptoms.
The 29-year-old Saltalamacchia is batting .237/.335/.404 in this, the first season of a three-year, $21-million contract. In 2013, he enjoyed a career year (118 OPS+) for the champion Red Sox.
To replace Saltalamacchia on the active roster, the Marlins have called up catching prospect J.T. Realmuto from Double-A.
