Marlins right-handed pitcher Mat Latos will return from the 15-day disabled list and start against the Rockies on Saturday, according to

Latos, who has been on the disabled list with knee inflammation since May 23, enjoyed an encouraging performance in Triple-A, prompting manager Dan Jennings to put the ball in his hand's this weekend.

"He felt strong, his [velocity] certainly indicated that," Jennings said. "He had some of the best, if not the best, velocity we've seen all year. [Pitching coach] Chuck [Hernandez] and I called the Triple-A pitching coach, John Duffy, just to get his assessment of it."

Latos (1-4) has a 6.12 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 16 walks in 42 2/3 innings this season.
