A left quad strain has landed Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy on the 15-day disabled list. Danny Muno was promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas to take his place.

Murphy sustained the injury Thursday night against Arizona.

The timing could certainly have been better. Murphy had picked it up in May after a slow start. He had hit safely in 22 of his last 27 games to skyrocket his batting average from .210 to .283.
