Mets trade Marlon Byrd on day of his T-shirt giveaway
Marlon Byrd was traded to the Pirates on Tuesday, a few hours before the Mets giveaway his T-shirt as part of a promotion at Citi Field.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the Mets traded Marlon Byrd (and John Buck) to the Pirates for a minor leaguer and a player to be named later. It's a sound move by a fourth-place team, turning a soon-to-be free agent outfielder having a career year into pieces for the future.
There's just one small problem though. The Mets are giving away Marlon Byrd-themed "Let It Fly" shirts at Citi Field tonight. Here's the promotion info and here's the shirt a few lucky thousand will receive:
