MLB DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks and lineups for Sunday, August 18, 2019

Sunday's nine-game slate brings some tough questions for MLB DFS players as they set their lineups. Should you go with a more proven option like Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, who has a tough matchup against Mike Clevinger and the Indians, or roll the dice on a cheaper, high-upside option like Braves OF Adam Duvall, who returned over 6x value against the Dodgers on Saturday? Is a pitcher coming back from injury such as Yankees starter CC Sabathia (knee) safe to roster in MLB DFS tournaments or cash games on Sunday? With FanDuel hosting a $100K Sunday MLB Squeeze, and DraftKings running a $150K Extra Inning that awards $30K to the winner, there are some difficult decisions for MLB DFS players to make. Before locking in any MLB DFS rosters, be sure to check out the top MLB DFS picks, lineups and advice from Mike McClure. He's a professional DFS player who has won almost $2M in his career.

When it comes to MLB, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book "Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune" as a top MLB DFS player, McClure's proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

He got off to a hot start in 2019, producing lineups on SportsLine that have returned as much as 30x in the first half of the season. He's also finished in the top 1 percent of tournaments four times and the top 0.1 percent of tournaments twice this season already. He cashed huge in three consecutive tournaments in mid-June, which included a top 2 percent finish when his DraftKings lineup generated a whopping 185.9 points. He also had an optimal lineup on FanDuel that cashed 8x for followers right before the All-Star break.

Then on Friday, he was all over Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts at $4,100 on FanDuel and $5,200 on DraftKings. The result: Betts went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored -- returning around 7x value and 28 points. Anybody who followed his advice was well on their way to a huge day. Now, McClure has set his sights on Sunday's slates.

One of McClure's top MLB DFS picks for Sunday is Red Sox outfielder J.D. Martinez at $4,100 on FanDuel and $5,200 on DraftKings. Martinez has hit safely in all but two games this August and he has seven multi-hit games since the trade deadline. Martinez has hit five home runs in August and his OPS is up to .946 for the season from .865 on July 21. Martinez and the Red Sox will take on the Orioles for the last of a three-game set on Sunday and Martinez has a .945 OPS against Baltimore so far this year.

He's stacking Martinez with teammate Mookie Betts at $4,300 on FanDuel and $5,300 on DraftKings. Betts has returned over 4x value on FanDuel in three of his last four outings. That's because he's seeing the ball extremely well at the plate, having recorded six hits, two RBI, six runs scored and one homer over his last four games. Betts has recorded three multi-hit games during that span, and now he gets a mouth-watering matchup against Orioles starting pitcher Ty Blach, who gave up seven hits and six earned runs over four innings in his last outing. Lock him in as one of the top overall MLB DFS plays on Sunday.

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Sunday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won't break the bank. This pick could be the difference between cashing in big or going home with nothing.
