The last two games between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros have told two very different stories. In Game 3, the Red Sox got huge hits from J.D. Martinez and Kyle Schwarber to power a 12-3 win. The following night, Houston batters were 5-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left fielder Michael Brantley had three RBI in a 9-2 Astros win. With the back-and-forth results, choosing players from Wednesday's MLB DFS player pool will be tricky.
Is it wise to bet on Houston hitters that have yet to face Boston starting pitcher Chris Sale yet this season? Astros starter Framber Valdez is 2-0 in two starts against Boston this season with a 1.26 ERA. Is either pitcher the right pick to anchor your MLB DFS lineups for Wednesday's action? On Tuesday, McClure listed Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager among his top MLB DFS picks on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Seager hit a two-run home run in his first at bat and returned 18 points on DraftKings and 25.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure's top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday, October 20
One of McClure's top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Red Sox outfielder Enrique Hernandez at $3,800 on FanDuel and $5,400 on DraftKings. Hernandez was one of the heroes for Boston in its 9-5 Game 2 win earlier in the ALCS. He went 2-for-4 from the plate with a home run, he also scored earlier in the game after a second inning single.
He was even better in Boston's Game 1 loss, when he hit two home runs with a double and single. Hernandez has taken a hit in both of his at bats against Valdez, and is looking to come away with a better showing than he's had in Games 3 and 4. Hernandez has had a hit in all but one playoff game in 2021, and has had more than one hit in five of those nine total games. Lock him in your MLB DFS lineups and look for a big return against the Astros on Wednesday.
Another key in McClure's optimal MLB DFS strategy includes stacking Hernandez with Red Sox OF/1B Kyle Schwarber ($3,100 on FanDuel, $5,200 on DraftKings). Schwarber had his biggest moment of the ALCS on Monday, when he hit a second inning grand slam in Game 3 to pace the Red Sox to a win. He has reached base in every game in the series, but is still looking for his first hit this year against Valdez.
Although he hasn't generated a great deal of offense outside of his grand slam in the series, he was a .297 leadoff hitter throughout the regular season. When he was the first batter of the inning for Boston, he had batting splits of .305/.372/.679. Schwarber has four double-digit Fantasy point performances in the MLB playoffs this season, and Boston needs him to step up again in a crucial Game 5.
