Chicago Cubs : Acquired RHP Jacob Turner from the Miami Marlins for two minor league relievers. OF Ryan Kalish was designated for assignment to clear roster space, the team announced.

Los Angeles Dodgers : Continue to pursue pitching help even after acquiring RHP Roberto Hernandez . (Los Angeles Times)

Marlins: Do not seem optimistic about signing OF Giancarlo Stanton to a long-term contract extension.

New York Mets : Designated OF Chris Young for assignment, the team announced. OF Matt den Dekker will be called up in a corresponding move.

San Diego Padres : Discussed the possibility of hiring ex- Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek to be their manager during interviews with GM candidates in recent weeks. (Fox Sports)

Philadelphia Phillies : Did not work out a trade with the Cubs and officially pulled LHP Cole Hamels back off trade waivers.

Pittsburgh Pirates : Designated RHP Ernesto Frieri for assignment. 3B Pedro Alvarez was activated off the bereavement list in a corresponding move.

Texas Rangers : Designated RHP Jerome Williams for assignment, the club announced. C Geovany Soto was activated off the disabled list in a corresponding move.


Houston Astros : 2B Jose Altuve left Friday's game with discomfort in his neck, the team announced. No word on how long he will be sidelined.

Milwaukee Brewers : C Jonathan Lucroy is day-to-day with a mild hamstring issue. (

St. Louis Cardinals : Placed RHP Jason Motte on the 15-day DL with a lower back strain.

Dodgers: SS Hanley Ramirez will have an MRI on his side Saturday after leaving Friday's game after one at-bat (Los Angeles Times) ... Placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day DL with a hip impingement and groin strain.

San Francisco Giants : Placed 1B Brandon Belt back on the 7-day concussion DL with recurring symptoms.

Colorado Rockies : RHP Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) is 2-3 weeks away from playing catch. (Denver Post)

Detroit Tigers : RHP Anibal Sanchez left Friday's start with a pectoral strain and will return to Detroit to have an MRI to determine the severity. (

Minnesota Twins : 1B Joe Mauer (oblique) played in a minor league rehab assignment on Friday.

New York Yankees : C Brian McCann left Friday's game with a mild concussion after being hit by a foul tip, the team announced. He will undergo more tests on Sunday.


SS Derek Jeter : Tied Honus Wagner for sixth place on the all-time list at 3,430 career hits.

RHP Bartolo Colon : Became the third Dominican-born pitcher to win 200 career games.

MLB: Commissioner Bud Selig says there is no animosity with Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf over the league's search for Selig's replacement.
