Nationals to place Adam LaRoche on DL with quad strain
After an MRI revealed a strain, the Nats will lose their hot-hitting first baseman Adam LaRoche to the 15-day disabled list.
#Nats Manager Matt Williams said MRI results on Adam LaRoche's quad revealed a strain and he will be placed on the 15-day DL— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) May 11, 2014
That's a blow to the Nats, in that LaRoche this season has been one of their most productive hitters: .319/.421/.504 (158 OPS+) with five homers in 32 games. As James Wagner of the Washington Post tweets, LaRoche sounds optimistic that he'll be able to return when first eligible.
The Nats haven't yet announced a corresponding roster move, but a recall of Tyler Moore seems a good possibility.
