The Nationals selected the contract of infielder Emmanuel Burriss from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, outfielder Reed Johnson (foot) was moved from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list.

Burriss is back in the majors for the first time since 2012. Burriss hit .278 (66 for 237) with eight doubles, five triples, three home runs, 25 walks, 10 stolen bases and 21 RBI in 62 games for Syracuse.
