With Miguel Gonzalez set to return to the Orioles' rotation, something had to give. And that something is Ubaldo Jimenez being moved to the bullpen, manager Buck Showalter told reporters Tuesday (Britt Ghiroli).

Jimenez, 30, is 4-9 with a 4.83 ERA (81 ERA+), 1.55 WHIP and leads the AL with 66 walks in 110 innings. In two starts since returning from the DL, Jimenez has posted a 7.84 ERA. The Orioles are 7-13 in games started by Jimenez and 64-39 when he doesn't.

The Orioles signed Jimenez to a four-year, $50 million this past offseason, so he'll be an expensive low-leverage reliever for the near future. He's only made one career relief appearance in the majors, and that came in 2006.

Moving forward, the Orioles' current rotation is now Chris Tillman, Wei-Yin Chen, Kevin Gausman, Bud Norris and Gonzalez.
