Orioles promote Dylan Bundy to Double-A

The Orioles have promoted right-hander Dylan Bundy to Double-A, tweets MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli.

Bundy is, by most accounts, the top pitching prospect in all of baseball, and he'll soon test his mettle in the high minors. In this, his first professional season, the 19-year-old Bundy has a 1.59 ERA across three different levels. He's also struck out 96 against 17 walks, all unintentional, in 79.0 innings. He wasn't quite as dominant in his most recent stop at High-A Frederick, but he was certainly good enough to warrant this promotion.

Bundy, who was the fourth-overall pick of the 2011 draft, is regarded as one of the most polished prep arms in recent history. His high-90s fastball is his best pitch, but, as we recently posted, his power curve isn't so bad either ...

It seems doubtful that Bundy will be in line for a September call-up, but the fact that he's about to see time at a fourth different level this season suggests he could reach Baltimore at some point in 2013.
