Padres activate OF Carlos Quentin

Carlos QuentinThe Padres will finally have one of their big off-season acquisitions in the lineup, as the team activated outfielder Carlos Quentin from the 15-day disabled list before Monday's game with the Cubs.

Quentin, 29, had knee surgery in spring training. The Padres acquired Quentin for two minor-leaguers in December. A San Diego native, Quentin has a career .252/.340/.490 slash line in parts of six years with the Diamondbacks and White Sox. Last season in Chicago, Quentin hit .254/.340/.499 with 24 home runs.

In nine minor-league rehab games at Triple-A and high Class-A, Quenten went 10 for 28 (.357) with two home runs. San Diego could certainly use his bat, The Padres have scored just one run in their last 27 innings and were shut out in back-to-back games against the Mets.
