Padres' Triple-A affiliate to don hideous uniforms June 8

The Tucson Padres -- the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres -- are hosting Disco Night on June 8. And it includes the team wearing these uniforms:

The backs of the jerseys - to mimic an Arizona sky, [then general manager Jack] Donovan said - were solid blue with a white number inspired by the Montreal Expos' font.

The original Toros jerseys from back in the 1980 season didn't last long, thanks to a laundry mishap. All the ugly colors bled together in a warm wash and the Toros ended up changing uniforms (The Arizona Daily Star has the full story).

But, for one day this June, the horrifying threads will again be seen in public.

Not that they weren't trying to make the bigs before, but maybe this will provide extra motivation for the Padres' Triple-A players to earn a call to the majors.
