Grich had one of the best seasons in his underrated career in '79, hitting .294/.365/.537 (145 OPS+) with 30 doubles, five triples, 30 homers, 101 RBI and 78 runs.

The Angels would lose in the ALCS, three games to one, to the Orioles, but it still must be considered a wildly successful season, as it was the first postseason appearance for the club that had been around for 19 years.

As for Tricky Dick, he moved to San Clemente, Calif. after his resignation from the presidency and lived there until 1980.
